Baker & Taylor Summer Reading Program Grant

The ALSC Summer Reading Program Grant is designed to encourage reading programs for children in public libraries by providing $3,000 in financial assistance, while recognizing ALSC members for outstanding program development.

This grant is sponsored by Baker & Taylor, a premier provider of books, digital content and technology solutions that help public libraries improve community outcomes through literacy and learning. Learn more about their Children’s and Teen Services summer reading program here.

    Application Information

    How to apply

    The Baker & Taylor Summer Reading Program Grant is closed for 2024. It will reopen for 2025 applications in the fall of 2024.
     
    Applications and supporting materials, including an itemized budget and the required signature form, are due by November 14, 2023. The recipient will be announced via press release.

    Please do not fill out the application until you have all the necessary materials to complete your application.

    Award Criteria

    Criteria

    • Each application will be judged on the following:
      • The plan and outline submitted for a theme-based summer reading program in a public library
      • The committee encourages innovative proposals involving children with physical and/or developmental disabilites

    Requirements

    • Applicants must:
      • Be personal members of ALSC as well as ALA; organizational members are not eligible
      • Submit program ideas that are open to all children (birth – 14 years)
      • Submit program ideas take place at a public library
