Join ALA
The American Library Association (ALA) is an exciting place to be these days— and for good reason. Thanks to improved programming, exciting online courses, and our interactive membership community ALA Connect , members are getting involved and making more of a difference for their libraries than ever before. ALA membership instantly connects you to a network of dedicated library professionals.
- If you are not sure whether you are or have ever been a member of ALA, or if you have been a member but do not remember your login information, do not complete the online membership form. Instead, call 1-800-545-2433, and press 5 for Member and Customer Service. During the hours of 8:30 to 4:30 Central, a customer service representative will assist you.
Former members who fill out a new membership form will be charged the difference in dues, and may experience delays in members-only access to this website and to
ALA Connect.
- If you are sure that you are a new member joining ALA for the very first time, click the
Online button below. You will be taken to a login page. Use the
Create a Profile option. Once your profile is created, you will be taken to our secure online membership form to make your selections.
- If you are an ALA member now, or have been an ALA member in the past, use the Login option in step 2, instead of Create a Profile. You will be provided with access to your membership record and renewal options. If you do not remember your login or password, use the retrieval function or contact Member and Customer Service, as described in step 1, above.
