2013 ALA/AIA Library Building Awards Competition now open

CHICAGO — The 2013 AIA/ALA Library Building Awards Call for Entries (PDF) is now available.  The awards, managed by ALA/LLAMA and the American Institute of Architects (AIA), encourage excellence in the architectural design and planning of libraries and recognize accomplishments in library architecture.  The deadline for submission is 5 p.m. Eastern time on Jan. 11, 2013.

 

LITA/Library Hi Tech award nominations sought

CHICAGO — Nominations are being accepted for the 2013 LITA/Library Hi Tech Award, which is given each year to an individual or institution for outstanding achievement in educating the profession about cutting-edge technology through communication in continuing education within the field of library and information technology.  Sponsored by the Library and Information Technology Association (LITA), a division of the American Library Association (ALA), and Library Hi Tech, the award includes a citation of merit and a $1,000 stipend provided by Emerald Group Publishing Limit

Applications for United for Libraries Trustee awards due Dec. 31

PHILADELPHIA — United for Libraries is accepting applications for the ALA Trustee Citation and the United for Libraries/Gale Outstanding Trustee Grant.  Applications for both awards are due Dec. 31, 2012.

OITP, LITA extend deadline for cutting-edge technology nominations to Nov. 16

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The American Library Association’s (ALA) Office for Information Technology Policy (OITP) and the Library & Information Technology Association (LITA) are extending the deadline for submitting nominations for best library practices using cutting-edge technology to Nov. 16.
