CHICAGO — The Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA), a division of the American Library Association (ALA), selected Jenna Nemec-Loise as the recipient of a stipend to attend ALA’s 39^th annual National Library Legislative Day (NLLD) in Washington, D.C. May 7-8, 2013.  

CHICAGO — One of the American Library Association’s most effective and commonly used advocacy tools, “Quotable Facts about America’s Libraries” has been updated with the most current research, including a new “Technology Trends” section. It provides quick, pertinent talking points and thought-provoking information for anyone interested in making the case for public, school and academic libraries.

CHICAGO — Registration closes on June 13 for the summer session of Turning the Page 2.0. This free, online course provides public library advocacy training in a uniquely interactive and personal format. The six-week program runs from the week of July 9 to the week of Aug. 13, 2012

CHICAGO —Influencing library boards, using statistics to make the case and privatization are among the topics to be discussed at the Advocacy Corner at the ALA 2012 Annual Conference in Anaheim, Calif.  It takes place on the afternoons of Saturday, June 23 and Sunday, June 24 at the ALA Membership Pavilion (#1939).

Dr. Ken Haycock, Stephanie Vance and Peter Pearson are among the speakers who will host short discussions, workshops and Q&A sessions designed to improve advocacy skills and showcase advocacy ideas and initiatives from all types of libraries.
