The American Library Association (ALA) Public Policy and Advocacy Office and the National Digital Inclusion Alliance (NDIA) today announced a new Digital Inclusion Working Group for library workers to exchange knowledge around digital equity work taking place in all library contexts.

“Digital equity is key to our mission of ensuring access to information for all,” said ALA President Emily Drabinski. “Given the historic investments in digital inclusion by the federal government, it is more important than ever for library workers from all backgrounds to have a space to connect with each other, build on our collective learnings and leverage the current opportunities to meet the pressing needs for digital equity in our communities.”

The working group will meet monthly, facilitated by PPA staff members Megan Janicki and Emily Durkin. Meeting topics will be driven by the digital inclusion discussion generated in the group and will include regular digital equity and inclusion policy updates. The first meeting will be held on Tuesday, January 30, at 4 p.m. EST.

Drabinski said, “We thank NDIA for their partnership and welcome all members of the library community to join this new working group and accompanying Connect space for peer-to-peer connection, collaboration and inspiration.”
