Midwinter Meeting

PHILADELPHIA –  United for Libraries  will host “Nuts & Bolts for Friends and Trustees” from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 24 at the Sheraton Philadelphia Center City Hotel, during the ALA Midwinter Meeting in Philadelphia.

PHILADELPHIA — United for Libraries will host discussion groups for Friends group members, trustees and library Foundation staff/volunteers at the 2014 ALA Midwinter Meeting in Philadelphia. All discussion groups will be held at the Pennsylvania Convention Center (PCC).

These are open forum discussion groups that give friends, trustees and foundation volunteers/staff an opportunity to network with others from around the country. Topics are determined by the interests of those in attendance.

CHICAGO — Sheryll Cashin, professor of law at Georgetown University, will keynote the 2014 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Sunrise Celebration during the American Library Association’s (ALA) Midwinter Meeting in Philadelphia. The celebration will take place from 6:30 to 7:30 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 27 in room 113 A-B at the Pennsylvania Convention Center.

CHICAGO — “Here There Be Dragons:  Public Access to Federally Funded Research,” a Midwinter Symposium co-presented by the Association for Library Collections and Technical Services (ALCTS) and bepress Digital Commons offers a unique opportunity to explore the complex issues surrounding the collection, organization, delivery and preservation of federally funded research.   Join your colleagues from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 24, 2014 at the American Library Association (ALA) Midwinter in Philadelphia.
