United for Libraries to present ‘Nuts & Bolts for Trustees, Friends and Foundations’ at Midwinter

PHILADELPHIA –  United for Libraries  will host “Nuts & Bolts for Friends and Trustees” from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 24 at the Sheraton Philadelphia Center City Hotel, during the ALA Midwinter Meeting in Philadelphia.

Libby Post, president of Communication Services, will provide valuable information on advocacy and library campaigns. Since 2005, Post has worked with dozens of libraries to help them achieve financial stability and sustainability and has won 80 percent of the library campaigns she has headed.

Susan J. Ellis, president of Energize, Inc., will give tips on how to engage volunteers. Energize, Inc., is a training, consulting and publishing firm that specializes in volunteerism. Ellis has worked with many well-known nonprofits.

Roundtable discussions will be held on foundation board development, book sales, fundraising and advocacy, as well as two roundtable discussions geared toward trustees.
