CHICAGO — The voting period for the 2014 Teens’ Top Ten officially opens on Aug. 15, 2014. Teens aged 12-18 can vote for their favorites through the end of Teen Read Week (Oct. 18).

Teens can vote for up to three of their favorite nominated titles. The nominees of this year’s Teens’ Top Ten are made up of 25 titles ranging from a diverse collection of genres and storylines. The 10 titles that receive the most votes will be named the official titles of the 2014 Teens’ Top Ten. The official “top ten” titles will be announced the week of Oct. 20, 2014.

For the second year in a row, DOGObooks is generously hosting the landing page for the Teens’ Top Ten voting. The voting page features the nominated titles accompanied with their respective book covers and summaries, as well as the ability for teens to leave comments about their favorite titles.

In addition to voting, interested librarians and library workers can now apply for their teen book group to become one of the 15 Teens’ Top Ten nominating book groups for the 2014-2016 slate. Teens who are a part of the nominating book groups are given the responsibility of creating the list of nominees for the Teens’ Top Ten. Applications are due no later than Oct. 1, 2014.

A digital image of a Teens’ Top Ten seal for the official titles is now available to publishers for licensing.  Arrangements can be made through ALA's Rights and Permissions office for publishers who need permission to reproduce the seal on a paperback edition or book jacket. Contact permissions@ala.org or Mary Jo Bolduc, (312) 280-5416 or (312) 944-8741 (fax) for information.

The Teens' Top Ten is a "teen choice" list, where teens nominate and choose their favorite books of the previous year. Nominators are members of teen book groups in sixteen school and public libraries around the country. Nominations are posted on Celebrate Teen Literature Day, the Thursday of National Library Week, and teens across the country vote on their favorite titles each year. To vote and to learn more about the Teens’ Top Ten, please visit the Teens’ Top Ten website.
