CHICAGO – The American Association of School Librarians (AASL) is delighted to announce the return of its social media recognitions, which celebrate social media superstars within the school library profession. Such superstars enrich the profession and its work on behalf of students and school communities by sharing information, expertise, ideas, encouragement, dialog and inspiration widely with stakeholders via a variety of social media channels.

In 2018, recognitions will be given in eight categories: Sensational Student Voice, Advocacy Ambassador, Tech Troubadour, Program Pioneer, Curriculum Champion, Leadership Luminary, Social Justice Defender, and the newly minted Reader Leader. Details about each category and recognition eligibility are available at www.ala.org/aasl/awards/superstar.

Any member of the school library community can nominate a candidate and self-nominations will be accepted. Nominations must be received by end of day March 2, 2018. The Social Media Recognition Committee will review the nominations and announce finalists in each category on March 14. From March 14 through April 8, the public will be invited to post endorsements. Superstars will be announced April 27 during a special School Library Month presentation. Recipients will also be recognized during the 2018 ALA Annual Conference in New Orleans.

The American Association of School Librarians, www.aasl.org, a division of the American Library Association (ALA), empowers leaders to transform teaching and learning.
