CHICAGO- The Reference and User Services Association is delighted to announce that its peer-reviewed journal RUSQ, now titled RUSQ: A Journal of Reference and User Experience, will be accepting submissions as of 1/1/2024. 

The scope of the journal includes all aspects of library services to adults in all types of libraries.  RUSQ publishes articles of interest to librarians in areas including but not limited to:

  • General and subject-specific reference;  
  • user experience;  
  • readers advisory;
  • collection development;
  • resource sharing;
  • instruction;
  • genealogy and archives;
  • business reference; and
  • reference technology.

RUSQ welcomes submissions that offer new perspectives and ideas on these and other topics relating to serving library users.

In response to the nature of our rapidly evolving field, the journal publishes empirical (quantitative and qualitative), theoretical, and historical research and essays as peer-reviewed featured articles. Through its columns and reports, the journal also publishes professional information on a wide range of topics of current interest. RUSQ Reviews, a supplemental online review source provides timely reviews of reference materials and professional reading.

The Reference and User Services Association (RUSA), a division of the American Library Association, represents librarians and library staff in the fields of reference, specialized reference, collection development, readers' advisory and resource sharing. RUSA is the foremost organization of reference and information professionals who  make the connections between people and the information sources, services, and collection materials they need.
