CHICAGO — Public voting is now open through March 31, 2015 to determine which 36 talks in two formats will be added to this year’s ALA Annual Conference program. A total of 127 submissions were received.

“Conversation Starter” talks are fast-paced 45-minute sessions intended to jumpstart conversations and highlight emerging topics and trends. Vote now for your favorite Conversation Starters.  

Joshua Davis among featured speakers at United for Libraries President’s Program

CHICAGO — Joshua Davis, author of “Spare Parts” (now a major motion picture), will be a featured speaker at the United for Libraries President’s Program, “From Cover to Screen - Books to Movies,” at the ALA Annual Conference in San Francisco on Monday, June 29, 8:30 to 9:30 a.m.

Join United for Libraries President Christine Lind Hage for this program, which will also feature Rick Jacobs, producer of “Spare Parts,” and esteemed film critic David Thomson, author of “How to Watch a Movie” (Random House, November 2015).

Travel grants available for first-time AASL national conference attendees

CHICAGO — The American Association of School Librarians (AASL) is offering 30 grants for travel to its 17th National Conference & Exhibition. Online submission process now open for AASL best practice showcase proposals

CHICAGO – Attendees of the American Association of School Librarians' (AASL) 17th National Conference & Exhibition will once again get a taste of current programs that are leading the way in school library program development during the conference's best practice showcase. The IdeaLab, formerly known as the IDEAxCHANGE, will be held Thursday afternoon of the conference taking place Nov. 5-8, 2015, in Columbus, Ohio.
