BRYN MAWR, Pennsylvania — Dave Barry will be featured in the lineup of United for Libraries’ “The Laugh’s On Us,” sponsored by SAGE Publishing, featuring headlining standup comedian and author Paula Poundstone, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 26 at the ALA Annual Conference in Orlando.

Dave Barry’s "Best. State. Ever. A Florida Man Defends His Homeland" (G.P. Putnam’s Sons/Penguin) will be released in September. His  recent bestselling books include “Live Right and Find Happiness (Although Beer is Much Faster),” “You Can Date Boys When You’re Forty,” “Insane City,” “I’ll Mature When I’m Dead”; his Peter Pan prequels, written with Ridley Pearson; and “Dave Barry’s History of the Millennium (So Far).” From 1983 to 2004, Barry wrote a weekly column for The Miami Herald that in 1988 won a Pulitzer Prize for commentary. He lives in Coral Gables, Florida.

Paula Poundstone is a frequent panelist for NPR’s “Wait Wait… Don’t Tell Me!” She was the first woman to win an ACE Award for Best Standup Comedy performance and the first woman to be invited to perform at the distinguished White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner. An outspoken advocate for libraries, she works with Friends of the Library groups around the country to help them raise funds and raise awareness of the importance of libraries.

Joining Barry and Poundstone will be stand-up comedian, writer and actor Phoebe Robinson; writer and storyteller Tara Clancy, and Nora McInerny Purmort, whose debut memoir “It’s Okay to Laugh” details her journey with her late husband Aaron, who died in 2014.

Wine and cheese will be served, and a book signing will follow. Advance tickets to “The Laugh’s On Us,” sponsored by SAGE Publishing, cost $60, $55 for United for Libraries division members (event code UNI4). Onsite tickets (if available) cost $65. Early ticket purchase is recommended, as the event often sells out.
