ALA invites education program proposals for the 2024 Annual Conference and Exhibition, taking place June 27-July 2, 2024, in San Diego, California. The ALA Annual Conference & Exhibition explores critical issues impacting libraries and their communities, with diverse programming on timely research, innovations, and best practices. The submission site is open now through September 18, 2023.

The Annual Conference 2024 Submission Guide provides detailed explanations of the two education formats, Education Programs and Poster Sessions, and step-by-step instructions on submitting a proposal. (Please note the call for poster proposals will open in November.)

Consult the Annual Conference 2024 Program Proposal Rubric for the education program evaluation criteria and scoring and view an instructional video on creating your proposal in the submission site.

Education programs are 60 minutes in length, which may include 10-15 minutes of Q & A. There are 9 proposal juries to choose from when submitting a proposal: one of ALA’s 8 Divisions or the ALA jury (which includes representation from Round Tables, Offices, and Affiliates).

The program proposal submission site will close on Monday, September 18 at 11:59 PM Eastern. You must create a username and password for the site before starting your proposal.

  • Submission Site Opens: August 14, 2023
  • Submission Site Closes: September 18, 2023
  • Final Decisions and Notifications: December 2023
