2023 ALA Library Research Roundtable Forum Presentations 

Theory, Method, and Practice in Library Research

ALA Annual Conference, LRRT Chair’s Program, Chicago, IL June 22-27, 2023

The Library Research Roundtable Forum will feature three peer-reviewed research works with the potential to make significant contributions to the field of LIS. The submissions were selected as examples of research excellence, with a focus on work exemplifying a strong use of theory, a clear and well-organized research design, and appropriate data collection and analysis methods.

The 2023 Research Forum presentations selected are:

"What do families do all day? Mapping a public library's influence on families' daily literacy environments"  Presented by: Dr. J. "From library thinking to community thinking: Helping libraries build a strengths-based understanding of underserved groups”  Presented by: Campana, Kathleen" <kcampan2@kent.edu>, Jacquie Kociubuk <kociubuk@wisc.edu>, Michelle H Martin <mhmarti@uw.edu>

" Social Workers in Public Libraries: Opportunity or Threat?"  Presented by: Don Latham <dlatham@fsu.edu>, Melissa Gross <mgross@fsu.edu>

The Research Forum presentations will be part of the LRRT Chair’s Program at ALA Annual in Chicago, IL on Sunday, June 25th, 4 pm-5:30 pm, Check the conference scheduler for details.

The 2022-2023 Research Forum Committee  Yin Zhang (chair), Gina R. Costello, and Jessica Kohout-Tailor. Thanks to the volunteers who joined the committee for the double-blind peer review of submissions.

LRRT was founded in 1968 to contribute toward the extension and improvement of library research by providing public program opportunities for describing and evaluating library research projects and for disseminating their findings. LRRT is dedicated to informing and educating ALA members regarding research techniques and their usefulness in obtaining information. The information must help users reach administrative decisions and solve problems and expand the theoretical base of the field by serving as a forum for discussion and action on issues related to the literature and information needs for the field of library and information science.
