Committee on Accreditation (COA)

Charge

To be responsible for the execution of the accreditation program of ALA, and to develop and formulate standards of education for library and information studies for the approval of council.

Composition

The COA has 12 members appointed by the ALA president-elect. Of the 12 members, 10 are personal members of ALA appointed to represent educators and practitioners. Of these 10 members, one must be Canadian. The remaining two COA members must be appointed from the public-at-large to represent the public interest.
