Clarkston (Mich.) Independence District Library passes millage with help from United for Libraries

PHILADELPHIA — Clarkston (Mich.) Independence District Library, a recipient of United for Libraries' 2013 Neal-Schuman Foundation Grants, successfully staved off closure by passing a millage of 1.25 for the library on Aug. 5. The millage, which was proposed but not passed in 2012, passed this time with more than 68 percent of the vote.

ALA brings library lens to network neutrality debate in FCC public comments

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today the American Library Association (ALA) urged the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to adopt the legally enforceable network neutrality rules necessary to fulfill library missions and serve communities nationwide. The ALA joined 10 other national higher education and library organizations in filing joint public comments (PDF) with the FCC.
