AASL Chapters Publications Program

As an exclusive benefit of AASL Chapter status, your organization can offer AASL publications—including the National School Library Standards—to your members and event attendees at special ALA member rates, regardless of individual AASL membership.

Whether you're planning a large-scale conference or a smaller professional gathering, the AASL Chapters Publications Program is designed to integrate seamlessly into your event. With flexible options to suit your Chapter's capacity, AASL (in partnership with the ALA Store*) provides all the forms, materials, and support needed to bring essential AASL publications directly to your members and attendees—right at your event.

Choose from these easy-to-implement options:

Conference Bookstores

There’s nothing quite like flipping through a book and taking it home on the spot! This option supports AASL Chapters managing their own on-site bookstore at a conference or event.

How it works:

  • Submit your order form at least four weeks prior to your event.
  • Orders receive a 30% discount to offset fees for shipping to your event.
  • Requested books and products ship directly to your Chapter.
  • Sell the items at your event at ALA member rates.
  • Unsold items? Return items (return shipping at your expense) or keep them for resale at future Chapter events.
  • Invoice sent from Chicago Distribution Center, official ALA fulfillment vendor.

Perfect for: Chapters with staff or volunteers available to manage stock and sales during and after the event.

Attendee Pre-Orders

Want to distribute books at your event—without managing an on-site store? This pre-order model lets attendees place orders at the ALA member rate in advance of your event and then pick up their materials at your event. It’s especially useful when books support scheduled PD sessions or workshops. Contact AASL for information as early as possible in your conference planning process.

How it works:

  • Collect orders and payments from attendees before the event (consider including this in your registration process).
  • Submit a consolidated order form and payment four weeks in advance.
  • Materials ship to your Chapter for on-site sorting and distribution.
  • To help cover shipping and handling costs, AASL/ALA recommends adding a minimum $5.00 handling fee per attendee order.

Perfect for: Chapters seeking a low-risk option that still provides attendees immediate access to materials at the event.

Coupon Codes

For the most hands-off approach, offer your attendees a discount code they can use to purchase AASL publications on their own. While they won’t be able to browse titles in person, they’ll still enjoy ALA member rates and access to valuable resources—on their own time.

How it works:

  • AASL/ALA Editions provides your Chapter with a 10% off coupon code valid during your event and for two weeks after.
  • The code can be used to purchase AASL publications at the ALA Store (online, by phone, fax, or email).
  • If the attendee is an ALA or AASL member, the 10% discount stacks with their existing member discount.

Perfect for: Chapters looking for an easy, no-logistics option that still brings value to event attendees.

Ready to Get Started?

No matter which option you choose, the AASL Chapters Publications Program makes it easy to add value to your next professional development event by sharing ALA member pricing for trusted AASL resources with your event attendees.
