Meet the AASL Staff

Sylvia Knight Norton  |  Executive Director  |  |  (312) 280-4388

Sylvia meets with library and education organizations to form partnerships and collaborations that support AASL’s mission and the members it serves. Sylvia serves as the primary liaison to and as a non-voting member of the AASL Board of Directors. She also works with other program managers to ensure that staff liaisons provide knowledgeable, efficient, and timely service to those who serve as chairs of AASL committees and task forces.

Stephanie manages the development and marketing of AASL book publications with ALA Editions. She also develops video, print, and online marketing and branding around division programs, products, events, and services to increase awareness, participation, and sales.

Allison is responsible for managing AASL’s awards program, advertising and sponsorship programs, permissions and licensing, vendor partner contracts and relationships and oversight of general operations.  

Currently interim contact for AASL National Conference.

Jen is responsible for supporting and growing AASL membership. She serves as the staff liaison to the AASL Chapters, the Member Engagement Committee, and the School Library Event Promotion Committee. Jen also works with external organizations to provide AASL members with resources and services.

James is the staff editor for Knowledge Quest and the staff liaison for School Library Research. He also is responsible for AASL e-learning, professional development, and other matters of continuing education.


Anne Weglewski  |  Assistant, Learning, Membership, and Governance  |  |  (312) 280-4382

Anne assists with membership, customer service and ALA/AASL conferences. In addition to supporting AASL, she also provides support to the executive director with governance, elections and works on special projects.
