James Patterson gives bonuses to library workers & booksellers in celebration of his latest book

CHICAGO — In celebration of the release of his latest nonfiction title, "The Secret Lives of Booksellers & Librarians," world’s bestselling author James Patterson is honoring select American Bookseller Association and American Library Association members with bonuses.  

He announced today a special donation for ALA members as he plans to give bonuses of $200 each to 250 librarians and library workers across the country for a total donation of up to $50,000. The deadline for ALA members to nominate is April 30, 2024. The winners will be announced at the ALA Annual Conference this summer.  

James Patterson has given over $100 million dollars to education and literacy programs.  

“We are so grateful to James Patterson for offering bonuses to 250 ALA members in celebration of the truly amazing work librarians and library workers do to serve their communities,” said ALA President Emily Drabinski. “I encourage our members to nominate themselves or others to take advantage of this opportunity. Congratulations to Mr. Patterson on the release of his new book, 'The Secret Lives of Booksellers and Librarians,' and thank you again!"
