CHICAGO – A new webinar from the American Association of School Librarians (AASL) will help school librarians expand their 24/7 learning capabilities by providing a tutorial of free screencast software. Presented by Brenda Stephens, “Screencast Innovations for the 21st Century Learner and Educator” will take place at 6 p.m. Central on Thursday, Nov. 6. For more information and to register, visit ecollab.aasl.org.

During the webinar, Stephens will take participants step-by-step through the process of downloading and recording screencasts using Screencast-O-Matic, a free online screen recorder. By demonstrating its wide variety of uses - including recording lectures for online courses, providing virtual tutorials and sharing student book reviews – participants will learn new strategies to enhance teaching and student learning.

Brenda Stephens is an adjunct English instructor at Anderson University and is employed part time by Greenville County Schools. During her career, Stephens has seen how technology can greatly enhance learning for both the student and educator. This has fueled her desire to become a school librarian and develop new and innovative ways to blend technology with education for a stronger education experience.

Attendance during the live presentation of “Screencast Innovations for the 21st Century Learner and Educator” is open to all. Only AASL members and AASL eCOLLAB subscribers will have access to the webinar archive. A seat in the live webinar is guaranteed to the first 100 attendees.
