CHICAGO — Self-service library technology is everywhere nowadays, from machines that can scan and sort books automatically to self-checkout stations and book vending machines, allowing patrons to access library materials and services without a personal interaction. “Library Self-Service Software and Devices,” the next broadcast of American Libraries Live, will discuss how this technology can best serve the library’s users as well as its staff.  Please tune in at 2 p.m. Eastern on Thursday, Sept. 18 for this free, streaming video broadcast that you can view from your home, library or on-the-go. Our panel of experts will tackle questions such as:

  • How can self-service devices and technology most effectively work for you and your library?
  • How does this technology change the nature of how you interact with your patrons?
  • If you’ve got a limited budget, which type of machines should you look at to meet your needs?

This broadcast is sponsored by 3M. The global leader in library innovation for more than 40 years, 3M is committed to helping libraries connect with their diverse and rapidly evolving communities. 3M’s self-service products and solutions allow libraries to offer their patrons more choice, while helping to increase circulation, generate revenue and encourage return visits.  Librarians can have the flexibility to spend more time doing what they do best – helping people.
