Jason Price receives Coutts Innovation Award

CHICAGO - The Collection Management and Development Section (CMDS) of the Association for Library Collections & Technical Services (ALCTS) has declared Dr. Jason Price, acquisitions and collection services manager at The Claremont Colleges, winner of the Coutts Award for Innovation in Electronic Resources Management.

The award recognizes significant and innovative contributions to electronic collections management and development practice. The recipient receives a $2,000 award generously donated by Coutts Information Services, a division of Ingram, and a citation. The award will be presented on Sunday, June 26, at the ALCTS Awards Ceremony during the 2011 American Library Association (ALA) Annual Conference in New Orleans.

Price lives uniquely within the electronic resource community in order to do the most good for the broadest population. His work with discovery tools demonstrates that his focus is not only on electronic resource management, but also on the end user’s opportunity to find, access and make use of those resources. Price presented innovative ways to track electronic resource purchase requests, repurposed help desk systems for tracking of electronic purchases from selection to access set-up and was instrumental in devising a pricing model for online journal collection. He was able to create an intricate tracking system and present it cogently to a large group of librarians. In addition, Jason brings both a lightning-quick intelligence and a deep commitment to his work. He is a tireless advocate for improving access through innovation.   

The Association for Library Collections & Technical Services (ALCTS) is the national association for information providers who work in collections and technical services, such as acquisitions, cataloging, collection development, preservation and continuing resources in digital and print formats.

ALCTS is a division of the American Library Association.
