The ALA Office for Human Resource Development and Recruitment (HRDR) Advisory Committee invites you to join us for a discussion on recruitment to the library profession, Wednesday, April 24, 2024, 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm (Central). Register now for this free session.

What does the future of the library profession look like?  That might depend on who will be going to library school. How are library and information sciences programs attracting students? What recruitment strategies draw future librarians and information scientists from different backgrounds? What career paths are these academic programs preparing students for?  Are there ways that practitioners in the field can help? Join ALA’s Office for Human Resource Development and Recruitment Advisory Committee as we host three leaders of ALA-Accredited LIS programs to find out the answers to these questions.

Join us for this interactive discussion as panelists address questions about recruitment strategies, curriculum choices, and what those of us already working in libraries can do to influence the next generation of library workers.

Moderator: Dr. Sian Brannon, Chair, HRDR Advisory Committee
