After Hurricane Katrina ravaged New Orleans, some dedicated librarians volunteered their time to help rebuild another community.

To connect librarians with libraries and community organizations in need of skilled volunteers in order to form meaningful volunteer opportunities and to improve awareness of the expertise librarians possess.

LBC Success at ALA - and beyond!

Thanks to all 22 volunteers who helped out at Orlando Library System branches (Edgewater, Chickasaw, South Trail, and Hiawassee) on the Friday and Monday of ALA! We helped feed hundreds of children while giving them a warm welcome in the library. Thanks, also, to everyone who contributed to the school supply drive. As LBC moves forward, we will be connected to the new ALA Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Implementation Working Group. We look forward to integrating our efforts with ALA's commitment to diversity in our profession. Read more...
