Meet the AASL Staff
Below is a listing of current AASL staff with information about their responsibilities.

Program Coordinator,
|
Jonna is responsible for the governance and financial aspects of AASL. Jonna provides support for the AASL Board of Directors and Committees which includes assisting with committee appointments, arranging meetings, and writing minutes. She is also the staff liaison to the Affiliate Assembly. As finance coordinator, Jonna processes incoming and outgoing checks, member reimbursements, and assists Julie with budget development and monitoring.
When not at work, Jonna is usually found on her yoga mat. She also enjoys cooking, attempting the odd art project, and lavishing attention on her spoiled French bulldog.

Manager, CommunicationsStephanie Book |
Stephanie's primary responsibility is to manage and develop communication strategy for the division. Stephanie also has direct responsibility for AASL's publication program and coordinates the marketing and promotion of division programs, products, events and services to increase awareness, participation and sales.
When not working at AASL, Stephanie is a wedding and portraiture photographer and an independent documentary filmmaker. As often as possible she spends her free time taking advantage of the camping and activities available in the neighboring Wisconsin wilderness.

Deputy Executive DirectorAllison Cline |
Allison is responsible for the day-to-day management of the division, including personnel and member relations. Allison oversees the implementation and monitoring of the strategic plan and the Longitudinal Study (School Libraries Count!) and development of the study's on-line tool.
"When not at work...I take advantage of the Midwest seasons - football falls, reading and fireplace winter, biking springs and lakefront summers. This of course is whenever my dog is not telling me what to do."

Manager/EditorMeg Featheringham |
Meg is responsible for the development and production of the AASL journal, Knowledge Quest, and the AASL monthly e-newsletter Hotlinks. She also serves as staff liaison to the member editors of AASL's online research journal, School Library Research.
When not working at AASL, Meg enjoys playing euchre, attending concerts and plays, spending time with family and friends, and reading (of course).

Manager, Web CommunicationsJennifer Habley |
Jen manages the AASL website, writes press releases, and oversees AASL's web 2.0 tools (wikis, blogs, Facebook, Twitter, ALA Connect). She also serves as staff liaison to several committees including the Standards and Guidelines Implementation Task Force which manages the Learning4Life implementation plan.
When not working Jen spends time researching her family tree, reading almost anything she can get her hands on, watching hockey, and being bossed around by her kitties.

Manager, Professional DevelopmentMelissa Jacobsen |
Melissa manages the development of AASL’s educational programs. She oversees the educational elements of the National Conference, the Fall Forum national institute, AASL e-Academy online courses, Licensed Institutes and AASL’s representation at the ALA Annual and Midwinter Conferences. Melissa also manages AASL's awards program, which culminates each year in a luncheon at Annual Conference honoring that year’s winners.

Meetings ManagerNeela Johnston |
As meeting planner, Neela's overall responsibility lies in the management of the national conference, the national institute, and AAL's presence at ALA conferences. Her duties include budgeting, overall planning, onsite logistics and oversight of registration, events, housing and exhibits. She is also responsible for site selection for future conferences.
"When not at work, I am either hanging with my family and awesome 6 year old son, volunteering at his kindergarten school in the library, cooking new dishes, or traveling! I rarely sit down and like to keep busy!"

Executive DirectorJulie Walker |
As a non-voting member of both the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee, Julie serves as the primary liaison to these groups. She works with other program supervisors -- Deputy Director, Manager of Communications, Manager of Professional Development -- to ensure that staff liaisons provide knowledgeable, efficient and timely service to those who serve as chairs of AASL committees and task forces. Julie also serves as staff liaison to the NCATE Coordinating Committee and works closely with the AASL Alliance for Association Excellence.
"When not working…I’m exploring Chicago on foot and, at least once a year, other countries --- also on foot!"
