ALSC’s electronic discussion lists, hosted on the Sympa platform, have been closed. As of April 30, 2021, ALSC will have fully migrated its communications from Sympa to ALA Connect to better manage the association’s conversations, archiving, and continuity needs, and to streamline engagement.
In ALA Connect, communications, meetings, rosters, and resources are accessible in one online place. Information will be available and archived, allowing for improved continuity and availability. Member privacy is well secured in the Connect community, and members are more recognizable, thanks to pictures and profiles.
A recording of a demo webinar, held live with ALSC members, is available online and provides tips on getting started in ALA Connect.
- Current ALSC members are automatically members of the ALSC community in Connect.
- Former Sympa subscribers, who are not ALSC or ALA members, can set up an account in ALA Connect. While access to many communities, including ALSC spaces, is a benefit of membership, there are some spaces in Connect that are open to all.
