Formatting Content

When editing a text area within a form, you might notice a toolbar at the top that is very similar to the formatting options you have in programs like Microsoft Word. Highlight different words or sections and adjust the format with these buttons.

 

 The options available to you are dependent on your role and the format chosen from the “Text Format” drop down. 

Available Formatting Buttons

  • Bold — Makes the selected text boldface
  • Italic — Makes the selected text italic
  • Underline — Add an underline to the selected text
  • Align left — Aligns a paragraph left.
  • Align center — Aligns a paragraph center.
  • Align right — Aligns a paragraph right.
  • Bullet list — Create a bulleted list. Hitting return will create a new line in the list.
  • Numbered list — Create a numbered list. Hitting return will create a new line in the list. For advanced style options: Select and highlight content and select the “numbered list” formatting option. Leaving selected text still highlighted, right click and select “numbered list properties”.
  • Outdent — Moves a bulleted or numbered list hierarchy out.
  • Indent — Moves a bulleted or numbered list hierarchy in.
  • Undo — Undoes the last action you performed.
  • Redo — Redoes the last action you performed.
  • Link — Adds a URL reference to the selected text.
  • Unlink — Removes the URL reference from the selected text.
  • Image — Uploads a photo.
  • Source — Views the content in HTML.
  • Copy — Copies the selected text to your system’s clipboard.
  • Paste — Pastes text copied to your system’s clipboard.
  • Paste as plain text — Pastes text as plain text (e.g. no formatting) that was copied to your system’s clipboard. This feature is deprecated in modern browsers.
  • Paste from Word — Pastes text copied from Microsoft Word. This feature is deprecated in modern browsers.
  • Format — A drop down with multiple header and paragraph styles for use.
  • Styles  — A drop down with styles for use.
  • Table — Creates a table with columns and rows to your specification.
  • Maximize — Makes the text editor full screen.
  • Spell check  — Enable spell checking of your content.
