Instructors

David VinjamuriDavid Vinjamuri is president of ThirdWay Brand Trainers, whose clients over the last 15 years have included American Express, Marriott Hotels, and the U.S. Commerce Department. David teaches branding and social media to master’s degree candidates at NYU, where he is adjunct assistant professor of Marketing. David writes the “Brand Truth” column online for Forbes, which has been read by over 1 million people. David is the author of Accidental Branding: How Ordinary People Build Extraordinary Brands (Wiley, 2008) and two novels. He is credited as the inspiration for the Soon to Be Famous Illinois Author Project, which won the 2015 John Cotton Dana Library Public Relations Award. David contributed a chapter on guerrilla branding to the Public Library Association’s Quick Reads series title, PLA 2018: Ten Essential Programs. David has been quoted as an expert on brands in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, U.S. News & World Report, BusinessWeek, and Investor’s Business Daily. David has contributed to BrandWeek, Advertising Age, Library Journal, and Publisher’s Weekly. He has appeared as a brand expert on PBS Marketplace, CBS News, BBC World, Fox Business News, Bloomberg TV, and MSNBC. David spent fifteen years in marketing and management for Johnson & Johnson, Coca-Cola, DoubleClick, and Citigroup, and ran marketing for two smaller companies. He graduated with high honors from Swarthmore College and was a Citicorp/Walter Wriston Scholar at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University. David has presented at the PLA 2016 and PLA 2018 national conferences and has spoken with over 30 libraries across the United States and Canada, including Chicago Public Library, the Free Library of Philadelphia, and Vancouver Public Library.

Thom KennonThom Kennon has spent 30+ years as a brand, marketing, and business strategist. He has led research, strategy, insights, and planning for Fortune 500 and global brands and NPOs across a multitude of categories. He teaches marketing research, digital marketing, social media, and competitive strategy in the NYU and Yeshiva University’s graduate programs. He is founder of alternative strategy consultancy, Free Radicals, but most proud of his five Kennon kids all within easy Venmo range of his home-base in Brooklyn, NY.
