Subcommitees and Task Forces

The Promoting Preservation Interest Group consists of two co-chairs and attendees. Co-chairs are elected for two-year terms, staggered one year apart to provide continuity in leadership.  The membership in attendance elects one incoming co-chair at the annual meeting each year.

Origin

Formed in 2009 as part of the restructuring of the Preservation and Reformatting Section (PARS) of the Association for Library Collections & Technical Services (ALCTS). The Small to Mid-sized Libraries Interest Group and the Preservation Education and Outreach Interest Group merged to form what was initially called the Preservation Outreach Interest Group. At the 2009 Annual Conference, the Preservation Outreach Interest Group was renamed the Promoting Preservation Interest Group and the need for a revised charge was discussed. At the 2010 Midwinter Meeting, a new charge was adopted.

Get Involved

We solicit candidates for the co-chair position every spring and elect a new co-chair at the Annual Conference. A co-chair is expected to be able to attend Annual Conferences and Midwinter Meetings during their two-year tenure.
