ALCTS LIS Education Task Force -LC Action Plan 5.1

Charge: To improve curricula in library/information science schools by preparing students with core competencies for technical services; devising/conducting training to produce flexible/resourceful catalogers with an appropriate mindset/values and advanced problem- solving, operations, management, and IT skills; and promoting the understanding/use of metadata for describing/managing electronic resources, with the goal of enabling greater participation of new professionals in developing/refining metadata standards.
