Origin

At the 1992 ALA Annual Conference in San Francisco, Janet Padway of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee convened a meeting to assess the need for a group to provide a forum for discussion on creative and alternate ideas in technical services. As an outcome of the meeting, the ALCTS Creative Ideas in Technical Services Discussion Group was established. In the spring of 2008, the group officially became the Creative Ideas in Technical Services Interest Group, with the passage of the bylaws change converting all ALCTS discussion groups to interest groups.

Get Involved

ALCTS values committed and active members. All conference attendees are invited to join the conversations at the group's meetings. CITS encourages participation by recruiting volunteers to serve as discussion facilitators and recorders at both the Midwinter Meeting and Annual Conference each year.
