Statement of Role, Purpose, and Function

Locate, organize and host the international visitors reception at the ALA annual conference. Coordinate the ALA President's Citation for International Library Innovation.


2014 IRRT International Librarians' Reception at the Marjorie Barrick Museum at the University of Nevada in Las Vegas, NV

Description: The 2014 IRRT International Librarians' Reception was held at the Marjorie Barrick Museum at the University of Nevada in Las Vegas on June 30, 2014 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. A very special feature was the presentation of the ALA President's Award for International Innovative Library Projects. Open to all conference attendees, but free to International Librarians outside the U.S., this reception offered a unique opportunity to network with hundreds of information professionals from around the world.

2013 IRRT International Librarians' Reception at the Harold Washington Atrium in Chicago, IL

Description: The 2012 IRRT International Librarians' Reception was held at the Muzeo on June 25, 2012 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. A very special feature was the presentation of the ALA President's Award for International Innovative Library Projects. Open to all conference attendees, but free to International Librarians outside the U.S., this reception offered a unique opportunity to network with hundreds of information professionals from around the world.

Description: The 2010 IRRT International Librarians' Reception was held at the Library of Congress Great Hall on June 28, 2010 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. A very special feature was the presentation of the ALA President's Award for International Innovative Library Projects.  Open to all conference attendees, but free to International Librarians outside the U.S., this reception offers a unique opportunity to network with hundreds of information professionals from around the world.

2009 IRRT International Librarians' Reception in Chicago

Description: The International Relations Round Table (IRRT) celebrated its 60th Anniversary with international librarians, from more than 80 countries, at the ALA Annual Conference. The International Librarians Reception was held at the Harold Washington Library Atrium.

2008 IRRT International Librarians' Reception in Anaheim

Description: The International Relations Round Table (IRRT) welcomed and celebrated with all conference-attending international librarians, from more than 80 countries, at the ALA Annual Conference. The International Librarians Reception was held at the MUZEO, a new museum complex of the arts and culture. Its front entrance is the former Anaheim Public Library, built in 1908. Open to all conference attendees, but free to International Librarians outside the U.S., this reception offered a unique opportunity to network with hundreds of information professionals from around the world. Participants found a mixing of culture and ideas, regional cuisine, hors d'oeuvres and open bar.

2007 IRRT International Librarians' Reception in Washington, DC

Place:  Library of Congress - Madison Building, Montpelier Room

Description: The International Relations Round Table (IRRT) welcomed and celebrated with librarians from more than 80 countries at the ALA Annual Conference. Open to all conference attendees, but free to International Librarians outside the U.S., this reception at the Library of Congress Montpelier Room offered an unique opportunity to network with hundreds of information professionals from around the world. With a panoramic view of Washington, DC, this event provided a mixing of cultures and ideas, regional cuisine, hors d' oeuvres and open bar.
