About the ALTAFF/GALE Oustanding Trustee Conference Grant
The ALTAFF/Gale Outstanding Trustee Conference Grant enables a public library Trustee to attend the ALA Annual Conference. A grant of $850 each is awarded annually to a public library Trustee who have demonstrated qualitative interests and efforts in supportive service of the local public library. The Conference Grant, made possible by an annual gift from Gale Cengage Learning, is administered by ALTAFF. A formal presentation to winners is made at the ALA Annual Conference. Applications are due by December 31 of the year before the Annual Conference year, and the winners will be notified by late March of the Annual Conference year.

Elisa Bruce

Trustee of the Lexington (Ky.) Public Library Board and the Latino Development Manager and Assistant Vice President for Fifth Third Bank of Central Kentucky

A native of Colombia, she has played a large role in helping to empower central Kentucky’s growing Hispanic community by educating them on financial matters utilizing the skills she earned as an educator and helping them make sound financial decisions. In the past five years, she has helped more than 1,000 people establish credit and has been heavily involved in educating the Latino/Hispanic community on the benefits of home ownership. Ms. Bruce serves on numerous boards in the Bluegrass area, including the Lexington Partnership for Workforce Development and Women Leading Kentucky. She also serves as treasurer for the Lexington Hispanic Association.
