Net Neutrality

Net neutrality is the principle that internet service providers must treat all data on the internet the same, and not discriminate or charge differently by user, content, website, platform, application, type of attached equipment, or method of communication (Wikipedia, Net Neutrality).   Net neutrality was a founding principle of the Internet. It is a principle incorporateed into the common carrier laws that have long governed the phone lines used for both voice telephone and dial-up access.  As a strong advocate for intellectual freedom, ALA and LITA support net neutrality.  A world with net neutrality is one in which competition between online content and services is strong.  For more information on net neutrality, click on the links below:
