Travel with ASCLA
Tour the French and Italian Rivieras
October 7th - 15th, 2014
ASCLA hosts fundraising trips around the world. This adventure is open to the library community and their friends and family; there are no membership requirements in order to participate. Bring your spouses, siblings and friends along!
Travelers will arrive in Nice on October 7, then meet your escort and depart for Cannes the next day. You will tour St Paul de Vence a quaint walled village associated with the Glitterati of the 20’s: Zelda & F. Scott Fitzgerald, Ernest Hemingway, John Houston, Isadora Duncan, Picasso, Matisse, Calder, Renoir, Miro and Chagall to name just a few. Next you will depart for Monte Carlo where you will visit the art collection of Baroness Ephrussi de Rothschild in Cap Ferrat and see the Neo Romanesque Cathedral where Princess Grace and Prince Rainer are entombed, the Royal Palace, Old Town, Princess Caroline‘s Children’s Library and Jardins St Martin before departing for San Remo on the Italian Riviera. You will begin the Italian Riviera portion of the trip, with a walking tour of San Remo with free time to take in the serene beauty of the sea. You will then depart for Santa Margherita with a visit to Rapallo, home to literary figures Ezra Pound, T.S. Elliott, WB Yeats and Ernest Hemingway and a stop at Porto Fino, perhaps the most photographed port for travel brochures. And for the grand finale you will visit Cinque Terre, five towns nestled along a rugged coastline, known for their rustic beauty and a quick stop in Milan.
