How to Register

  • Registration through online form at Onsite Rates
    1. Non-Members can join ALA before registering to get the lowest price on Registration
    2. Register for the Annual Conference using the Online Registration Form

  • Registration by fax or Mail at Onsite Rates
    1. Fax and mail registration is no longer available. You can registere online, above, or register onsite when you arrive.

  • Add Additional Events to your Registration
    1. Online addition of events is no longer available. Tickets for some events may be available at the Registration desk onsite.


Onsite Registration Information and Check in

The Registration Counters will be located in the Washington Convention Center, Street Level, East Registration Area.
Registration hours:
Thursday, June 21 - Friday, June 22: 7:30 am - 6:00 pm
Saturday, June 23 - Monday, June 25: 7:30 am - 5:00 pm
Tuesday, June 27: 7:30 am - 2:00 pm

If you register by May 18, and receive your badge in the mail:

  • Bring your photo ID, badge and expocard with you (the badge is the card with your name on it)
  • Go to the "Badge Holder Pickup" counter to check-in and receive your conference materials
  • If you need to make changes to your badge, go instead to the "Will Call" counter
  • Satellite Registration will also be available at the Washington Hilton, Marriott Crystal City and Fairmont Hotel. At these locations, if you already have your badge, you can check-in and get your conference materials. You cannot register for the conference, make changes to your badge, or register for additional events.
    Hours are: Thursday, June 22 - Friday, June 22: 8:00 am - 8:00 pm
If you register prior to the conference, but DO NOT receive your badge in the mail:
  • Bring your photo ID, and a copy of your registration receipt with you
  • Go to the "Will Call" counter in the Registration area in the Washington Convention Center to receive your badge, expocard, and conference materials
If you want to register onsite (including purchasing an exhibits pass):
  • Bring your photo ID with you
  • Go to the "Onsite Registration" area in the Washington Convention Center and first get a registration form
  • Once you have filled out a form, get in the "Onsite Registration" line (do not get in line without a form)
  • Onsite rates for the full conference are listed above. You also have the option to register for a single day of the conference (see below). To receive member rates, bring your memeber ID or number with you.

Exhibits Only, Exhibits Plus and Exhibits Supreme Registration

Visit the exhibits only, for $25. An Exhibits Only Badge is good for all 4 days of the exhibits (Saturday-Tuesday). An Exhibits Plus Badge includes admission to the exhibits, and the Opening General Session on Saturday and is $35. The new Exhibits Supreme Badge is $50 and includes admission to the exhibits, the Opening General Session and Closing Session, the ALA President's Program, and the Auditorium Speaker Series. Exhibit badges can be purchased in advance, or onsite at Registration.

Confirmations

The ALA Registration office will e-mail or mail a registration confirmation to all registered attendees.


Badges

If registration is received by May 19, 2007, your badge will be mailed to you no later than two weeks before the conference. Attendees who registered in advance and received their badges in the mail can pick up their Conference materials (Program Guide, badge holder, etc), at the Badge Holder Pickup Counter in the Washington Convention Center.

Satellite Registration will also be available at two major hotels, for attendees who registered in advance to pick up their materials only. No changes can be made or tickets purchased at Satellite Registration.M

Badges will not be sent to countries other than the U.S. and Canada, and will not be sent to attendees who register after the deadline. Late registrants and residents of other nations may pick up badges at the Will Call/Corrections Counter in the Washington Convention Center.


Refunds and Cancellations

Substitutions are welcome at any time. Otherwise, registration cancellations must be made in writing and postmarked or faxed by May 19, 2007. Cancellations will result in a full refund less a $25 processing fee.

No phone cancellations will be accepted. No refunds for cancellations postmarked after May 19, 2007. No ”Exhibits Only” or "Exhibits Plus" refunds. Refunds will be processed after the Annual Conference.


Children's Policy

Strollers are permitted on the exhibit floor, but only if there is a child in them at all times. Unescorted children are not permitted on the exhibit floor. Children under the age of five must be restrained at all times (stroller, back pack, etc.). Any child over the age of five must have an Exhibits Only badge to be admitted to the exhibit floor. These badges are available at onsite registration for $25. An adult must accompany all children under the age of 16.


Meal Policy

Meals are not included with regular Conference registration. Some preconferences and banquets include meals as part of an additional ticket price. This information is included with the description of the event.
