This Web site has been developed to provide information to those interested in becoming school library media specialists as well as those seeking to recruit people to the profession. It provides information on the job itself, the job outlook, education and licensing across the U.S., job hunting, and ideas for recruitment. Information from individual states is provided where available.
Developed by the AASL Recruitment for the Profession Task Force. In 2001 the task force was charged with preparing a multi-year plan including current statistics on retirements from the field, shortfalls of qualified library media specialists and recommending strategies for AASL and its affiliate organizations to take.
