In YALSA's Organizational Plan and report, the Future of Library Services for and with Teens: A Call to Action, YALSA outlines a paradigm shift that calls for a transformation in libraries and teen services. The transformation takes an asset-based and youth-centered approach, focusing on developing  teen outcomes in a number of key areas. In reimagined libraries, school and public libraries are community-based institutions teens can rely on to support them in pursuing expanded opportunities and in developing skills that will help them succeed today and in the future. They are places teens want to spend time with friends, mentors or coaches, and connect to experts to explore and become better at what most interests them. Libraries, as the focal point for formal and informal learning, become the place for teens to become what they want to be and need to be!

The infographic below provides an overview and description of specific outcomes teens gain when library services are reimagined with and for teens.  In addition to highlighting teen outcomes, the graphic provides concrete strategies library staff can use to contribute to teen growth in six target areas. Use this graphic as a jumping off point to reimagine your own services for and with teens, and to communicate with stakeholders in your community how libraries can put teens first.
