Call For Poster Session Proposals

The Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA), in conjunction with YALSA’s Technology for Young Adults Committee, invites you to present at YALSA’s technology poster session, "The Best of Teen Tech


Week: Effective and Affordable Tech Services and Programs to Implement Throughout the Year" at the ALA Annual Conference in Washington, DC June 24-29, 2010.

What Is a Poster Session?

A poster session is a forum for professionals to share best practices and related resources with colleagues. This poster session will highlight successful and innovative library services and programs from Teen Tech Week that integrate technology in a way that is effective, affordable, and replicable at other libraries. Poster presentations will highlight the main points or components of your best practice in a way that participants can easily learn about a topic. Pictures, graphs, data, and text are typical tools used by the presenter.

Call for Proposals

Proposals will be accepted until Oct. 16, 2009.

Please have this information available when filling out
the application (Word doc):

  • Presenter name(s)
  • Employer or affiliated institution
  • Contact information for presenter, including phone number, email and mailing address. If there is more than one presenter, choose one person to be the contact.
  • Short description of the proposed topic (50 words or less)
  • Description of how your poster will address our criteria as listed above (150 words or less)

A limited number of poster sessions will be selected for presentation at the 2010 Annual Conference in Washington, D.C. The poster session will take place on Saturday, June 26, 3:30-5:30 pm.

Poster Session Timeline

Submission: Oct. 16, 2009


Notification: Dec. 7, 2009


Confirmation: Dec. 18, 2009


Annual Early Bird registration opens: Jan. 4, 2010


Inform YALSA of special needs or accomodation: Feb. 1, 2010


Submit handouts to YALSA Office: May 1, 2010


Presentation: June 26, 2010, 3:30-5:30 pm

Please note that YALSA does not provide funding for registration and travel expenses for the presenter(s). If a presenter is selected, he or she is expected to attend the ALA Annual Conference and cover all his/her costs.
