About

Institute of American Indian Arts (IAIA) is one of 32 fully accredited tribal colleges in the United States and the only tribal college devoted to contemporary Native American arts. Their students come to Santa Fe from 97 federally recognized tribes to earn Bachelor’s and Associate’s degrees in Studio Arts, Creative Writing, Museum Studies, Cinematic Arts and Technology, and Indigenous Liberal Studies. Their project "Giving Voices to Our Stories: Fostering the Growth of Future Indigenous Graphic Novelists" aims to foster the growth of future Indigenous graphic novel artists and further diversify the voices represented in visual narrative through development of our graphic novel collection and IAIA’s 1st Graphic Novel Contest. Students will create their own short graphic novels for the chance to win a booth at Indigenous Comic Con and network and share their graphic novel on a larger scale.
