The mission of the Society for American Baseball Research is to foster the study of baseball past and present, and to provide an outlet for educational, historical and research information about the game. The website of the Jackie Robinson Foundation, which was founded by Jackie’s wife, Rachel Robinson, in 1973 as a vehicle to perpetuate the memory of Jackie Robinson and his achievements. Serving as an advocate for young people with the greatest need, the Foundation assists increasing numbers of minority youths through the granting of four-year scholarships for higher education.

“The Jackie Robinson Educational Archives” website is the result of a year-long program at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, celebrating the 50th anniversary of Jackie Robinson breaking the major league baseball race barrier. The initiative featured two academic courses, guest speakers, exhibits, and a lecture series. Thousands of primary materials were gathered for use in the program and videotaped interviews were held with each guest speaker and other key figures in Robinson’s life. This website makes many of these materials available to the public.
