The Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Commission (ALBC) commemorates the 200th birthday of Abraham Lincoln, emphasizing the contribution of his thoughts, ideals to America and the world, and serving as a catalyst for strengthening freedom, democracy and equal opportunity for all.

Thursday, February 12, 2009, was the 200th anniversary of Abraham Lincoln’s birth. The Bicentennial Commission has designated the period from February 2008 through February 2010 as the official Bicentennial period.

To achieve the goals of the Bicentennial, the Commission designed a mix of projects and initiatives to celebrate Lincoln’s life and legacy. Many programs extend beyond the official Bicentennial period.
