By Teresa Koltzenburg | Wiki aficionados (as well as wiki newbies) interested in contributing to ALA's Midwinter Meeting 2007 Wiki are invited (strongly encouraged!) to do so at http://wikis.ala.org/midwinter2007/index.php/Main_Page.
The wiki is yours (and everyone's)—it's for those planning on attending the meeting (in über-cool Seattle) as well as for those who aren't attending.
Even if you're not planning to attend, the wiki tool offers members and non-members alike a place to collaborate and share relevant information and point to fun attractions (e.g., the Fremont Troll) related to the venue.
The wiki is the virtual place where you can put in your individual conference tips and share other helpful pointers. It's also fertile "ground" for history and trivia buffs and those in-the-know to seed data about Seattle's unique and even touristy aspects, like Pike Place Market ("The Market"), which not only sells fresh fish, but also offers a multitude of nifty handmade items, has plenty of free entertainment in the form of street performers, and reportedly is haunted.
According to ALA's Midwinter Meeting 2007 site, the exhibits will be held January 19–22, 2007, at the Washington State Trade & Convention Center, located in downtown Seattle at 7th and Pike Streets. The Exhibits Ribbon-Cutting will be held Friday, January 19, at 5:15 p.m. preceding the All-Conference Reception on the Exhibit Floor from 5:30–7:30 p.m.
