Yvette Leigh, a branch manager at Chicago Public Library, shows off one of the CNC Mills at the Harold Washington Library Makerspace at a preconference on Friday. Attendees got a tour of the makerspace, scheduled to open July 8. The space also has Laser Cutters and Makerbot Replicator 3D Printers.
Zach Kaplan, CEO of Inventables, a supplier and consultant to the lab, wrote a detailed description of the lab's equipment.
On Sunday, at McCormick Place S501bcd Yolande Wilburn of the Chicago Public Library will facilitate a panel discussion featuring Kaplan along with Michael Beltran, Lecturer at Northwestern University, Dan Meyer, Fab Lab Manager at the Museum of Science and Industry, and Tim Saylor, Web Developer and Entrepreneur, Board of Directors for Pumping Station One on collaboration in the Windy City’s maker community.
Annual Conference attendees will have plenty of opporutnities to learn about makerspaces again on Monday.
