New Members Round Table

Welcome from the president:

Welcome to NMRT's 76th year! This year’s presidential theme is Thinking Ahead: The Future of Library Leadership, and our programs and activities will focus on preparing NMRT members to take on leadership roles within ALA and other professional organizations, as well as in their own institutions.

There are a lot of exciting plans for this year to support this theme. A significantly expanded liaison program will connect NMRT members with ALA divisions and roundtables, as well as state library associations and ALA association-level committees. This year's Annual Program will be a series of talks about leadership that will be presented online throughout the year. We're still working on finalizing the roster of speakers, so if you know a library leader who would be willing to share some insights with NMRT members, please let me know. In addition, many of our committees are working diligently on regular and special projects relating to leadership development.

Over the past year, the NMRT Member Relations Committee has been collecting stories from NMRT alumni members that describe how their experiences with NMRT helped shape their careers. Please take a look at them—they are inspiring!

Our new blog, NMRTNotes, should be up and running in August, and will be a source for NMRT news and announcements, as well as insights from the board and membership.

Remember that NMRT is your organization. If you have questions about NMRT, or if there's something we're doing well (or something we could do better), please feel free to contact me at nanette.donohue @

Here's to another exciting and productive year!
