Committee

To create a new Committee, follow these steps:

  1. Log in and click the “Content” link in the admin menu.
  2. Click the “+ Add content” link.
  3. Click the “Committee” link.
  4. Enter the committee, subcommittee or other group's title, followed by their acronym in parentheses in the ”Committee or Group Title (GGT)” field. Example: Budget and Review Committee (BARC)
  5. Enter the iMIS Committee Code in the “Committee ID” field. This will pull the roster according to the term dates in iMIS.
  6. Click “Charge” link and enter your text for the committee’s charge or mission in the text box.
  7. Leave “Roster” empty unless you are not pulling roster data from iMIS.
  8. Enter your text content for instructions on how to request full roster contact details to non-members in the “Below Roster” field.
  9. Optional: Enter your text content for resources in the “Resources Section”.
    1. If your group has significant resources, you can link to them in the content area below, using the external link tool in the WYSIWYG.
      1. Note: This is NOT the area to post minutes. Those should be in ALA Connect, and will go to the RSS feed if they are marked as Public.
    2. If your group has no need of this section, delete the Resources subhead above and leave the content area below blank. The fields will disappear from the web version.
  10. Enter your heading and text content in the “Composition” section.
    1. The purpose of this field is to communicate the structure of the committee or group so that interested members can determine whether they are eligible to serve.
      1. Note: This is NOT the area to write about the founding of the group or its name changes. Use the Origin section for that content.
  11. Optional: Enter your heading and text content in the “Sub-Committee and Task Force” section.
  12. Optional: Enter your heading and text content in the “Optional Category 1” section.
  13. Optional: Enter your heading and text content in the “Origins” section.

    2. Include name and/or scope changes.
  14. Enter required metadata from the “Metadata” tab. See the ALA Metadata section for more details.
  15. Click “Save” at the bottom of the page.
