Awards

Use Awards to create and manage awards on the Awards and Grants microsite.

To create Awards content, follow these steps:

  1. Log in to the Awards and Grants microsite and click the “Content” link in the admin menu.
  2. Click the “+ Add content” link.
  3. Click the “Award” link. 
  4. Enter the award’s administrative name in the “Award (node name - not displayed to public)” field.
  5. Enter the award’s formal name in the “Name to be displayed to the public” field.
  6. For sorting purposes, enter the name of the award as it should appear in an alphabetized list in the “Name sort” field. For example, if the award name is "John Newbery Award", the sort should be "Newbery John".
  7. Enter text in the “Purpose” field. 
  8. Choose the correct rate of occurrence in the “Frequency” dropdown menu.
  9. In the “Version Year” field, enter the year that this version of an award started to be given.
  10. Choose appropriate organizations from the “Administering Organizations” menu.
  11. In the Application Information tab, enter application “Deadline” from the dropdown menu options. 
  12. In the Application Information tab, enter informative text in the “Instructions” field.
  13. In the Committee tab, choose to display the award to the committee options under the “committee display” field.
  14. Click “Save” at the bottom of the page.

Making Updates to an Awards Page

  1. Access awards page and make desired changes. 
  2. In the “Revision information” tab, choose “create new revision, no moderation.”
  3. Fill out the Revision log message field with a description of your changes. 
  4. If preparing changes in advance, save the page without changing the moderation default and notify ITTS and Rebecca Gerber not to approve the changes. When time to publish, change the moderation status or publish a saved version of a revision. 
  5. Click “Save” at the bottom of the page.

Award Donor 

Use the Awards Donor content type to associate an awards sponsor with a specific award on the Awards and Grants microsite. To create Award Donor content, follow these steps:

  1. Log in to the Awards and Grants microsite and click the “Content” link in the admin menu.
  2. Click the “+ Add content” link.
  3. Click the “Award Donor” link. 
  4. Enter the name of the Award donor in the “Title” field. 
  5. Choose the “Award Sponsored” by the donor from the scroll menu. 
  6. Enter the “Name” or “Company” of the donor. 
  7. Enter content in the “Description of the Donor” field. 
  8. To add an image for your article click “Choose File” from the Image section. Once you have selected the file from your computer click “Upload”.
  9. Click “Save” at the bottom of the page.

Award Winners

Use the Awards Winners content type to associate an award recipient with a specific award on the Awards and Grants microsite. To create Award Winners content, follow these steps:

  1. Log in to the Awards and Grants microsite and click the “Content” link in the admin menu.
  2. Click the “+ Add content” link.
  3. Click the “Award Winners” link. 
  4. Enter a name in the “Name of node for winner” field. 
  5. Enter a name in First Name, Last Name format in the “Sort field for winners”
  6. Enter a year in the “Year this Award was won” field.
  7. To add an image for your article click “Choose File” from the Image section. Once you have selected the file from your computer click “Upload”.
  8. In the “Winner Description” field, enter text to be displayed in italics immediately below the winner’s name.
  9. In the “Winner Blurb” field, enter descriptive information about the winner. 
  10. Click “Save” at the bottom of the page.

Award Administrator Logo

Award Administrators list is populated from the ALA Units taxonomy term list. To update the logo for an administrator follow these steps:

  1. Click the “Structure” link in the admin menu.
  2. Select “Taxonomy”
  3. Click “list terms” from the “ALA Units” row.
  4. Click “edit” next to the term you wish to update.
  5. Click “Remove” next to the current “Unit Logo Image”.
  6. Click “Choose File” from the Image section. Once you have selected the image file from your computer and click “Upload”.
  7. Click “Save” at the bottom of the page.
