BRASS: Membership
Charge
To serve as one of the public relations arms of BRASS, with the aim of promoting increased membership and retaining existing members in the section; to liaise with existing ALA divisions, sections, and roundtables with the goal of promoting the activities of BRASS; and to advise the BRASS Executive Committee on increasing the visibility of BRASS's work to current and potential members.
Specific Duties
- To collaborate with BRASS’s other public relations arms (social media, webmaster, etc.) to publicize BRASS, including the section purpose, activities, and benefits of membership.
- To welcome new members and promote opportunities for engagement.
- To develop strategies for member recruitment and retention.
- To liaise with existing ALA divisions, sections, and roundtables with the goal of promoting the activities of BRASS and RUSA.
- To recommend action concerning membership issues to the BRASS Executive Committee.
- To organize and plan the BRASS Membership event(s) at ALA Annual in partnership with our sponsors.

Composition
There shall be at least five (5) members appointed by the Vice-Chair/Chair-Elect of BRASS. Plus the BRASS Representative to RUSA Membership shall be an appointed, ex officio member of the committee with voting rights.
Terms of Office
Members of the Committee will serve for two years and shall be eligible for reappointment for a consecutive two-year term. Terms will be staggered so that continuity will be maintained.
