BRASS: Business Information Sources

To study and identify the need for and improvement in business information sources both print and electronic and to promote communication between business librarians and the providers of business information.

To showcase and to create a dialog with publishers and information providers about their information products and resources by means of an annual Publishers’ Open Forum.

To identify outstanding business information sources for recommendation in an annual column in Reference and User Services Quarterly (RUSQ).

Specific Duties

• To identify and study the need for new resources in business information and areas needing improvement in existing ones. To communicate these needs to information providers in the business field.
• To review and communicate issues involving access and changes to business information as they impact business information sources.
• To encourage and foster communication and dialog between information providers and business reference librarians. This is achieved by organizing a Publishers’ Forum at either the Annual meeting or online. The Forum is an opportunity for business librarians to explore emerging trends and themes by having conversations with business information publishers about their products.
• Identify outstanding business reference sources for recommendation in an annual column in Reference and User Services Quarterly (RUSQ). Notify BRASS membership and publishers or authors of these works.
• To manage and update the BISDex platform.
