NMRT Meet and Greet

The ALA New Members Round Table (NMRT) “Meet and Greet” event was held at the St. Anthony’s, a Wyndham Historic Hotel, in San Antonio, Texas, on Friday, January 20, 2006, at 7:30 p.m. in the Bowie Room. Several NMRT'ers and friends gathered for this informal session of meeting new members and catching up with old friends.

Approximately 30-35 people came through at various points during the event, and were welcomed by some of the “longstanding” NMRT’ers on-hand. With the injury-induced absence of current NMRT President Nadine Flores, President-Elect Amanda Roberts stepped up to the plate and welcomed everyone to the Meet and Greet and to the Conference. Popular, outgoing NMRT personalities like Tanzi Merritt Sutton, Laura Kortz, Courtney Young, Aaron Dobbs, and Chrissie Anderson Peters made the rounds, introducing themselves and learning more about some of our new attendees.

A group of folks from UNC-Chapel Hill were present, as were a group from the University of Tennessee. Likewise, some students/alumni of Pitt and current employees at Texas A&M at Corpus Christi joined in the low-key, laid-back get-to-know-you session, too. Those in attendance were reminded of other NMRT events coming up at the Conference, including the Midwinter Social to be held at the Hard Rock Café the following night.

All in all, it was another fun and informal platform for getting to know each other – as NMRT does it best!
